Heat the Streets Run & Walk for Warmth is a 5K and one-mile walk.
Metropolitan Utilities District and Omaha Public Power District join together to host this annual event, with proceeds benefiting local utility assistance programs to help friends, family and neighbors in our communities pay their utility bills. The event is usually hosted in the cold winter months to bring attention to those who struggle to keep the lights on and heat their homes. However, utility assistance is a year-round need.
Funds raised are administered by Dollar Energy Fund, Inc., a registered 501(c)3, and then split between M.U.D.’s Home Fund and OPPD’s Energy Assistance Program to provide local assistance to those in need.
In the interest of participant safety, the decision has been made to host the 2021 event as fully virtual. We encourage you to complete the 5K or the one-mile walk on March 6 in your neighborhood, on local trails or from your home or gym treadmill! All registrants will receive a custom neck gaiter, sponsored by Regal Awards, mailed to their address provided.
Participants in the 5K may submit their results online. Awards will be mailed to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place male and female runners in each of the following age divisions: 12 and under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+. Results must be posted by 11:59 p.m. Wednesday, March 10 to be considered for awards.
Registrations are non-transferable and non-refundable.
